Plumbing Technician
Job Title: Plumbing Technician
Department: Trim/Service/Rough/Slab
Reports to: Phase Managers
FLSA Classification: Non-exempt

Job Summary:
The Plumbing Technician will be responsible for installing, repairing and maintaining pipes, valves, fittings, drainage systems, and fixtures in new residential properties under the direction of the Plumbing Technician Supervisor. In addition, individuals will assist in conducting tests to diagnose plumbing problems and documenting work status. The Plumbing Technician must understand plumbing systems and local building plumbing codes, in addition must possess the ability to perform the role while following SOP’s and adhering to the company and OSHA safety guidelines.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Under minimal supervision, install plumbing systems such as pipes, valves, fittings, drainage, fixtures and other plumbing products without interfering with existing infrastructure.
- Install, repair and maintain plumbing parts utilizing manual and power tools such as pipe wrenches, pipe cutters, pex-crimp, plungers, hacksaws, hammer, jack hammer, power drill and others.
- Recognize plumbing system defects, troubleshoot and solve plumbing issues.
- Assist in completing plumbing paperwork and covering for team members on their absence.
- Load and unload trucks and haul and hoist materials.
- Maintain required housekeeping in assigned work areas.
- Attend company meetings, trainings and events.
- Adhere to, and enforce PBI core values, policies and procedures.
- Learn and comply with local and state plumbing codes and specifications, as well as manufacturer specifications for all materials use.
- Safely and properly operate company vehicles and equipment, including following the company procedures for vehicle’s operations and maintenance.
- Follow all PBI and OSHA safety guidelines and requirements. Ensure all work meets safety standards and follows best practices.
- Effectively communicate verbally and in writing with PBI personnel and PBI clients and collaborate with other trades in the job sites.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
- Knowledge of plumbing skills and techniques, plumbing codes and specifications.
- Ability to operate hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
- Ability to work under extreme conditions that include, but not limited to: adverse or extreme weather, lifting of heavy objects, hand digging, and working in tight spaces.
- Ability to prepare, read and comprehend a variety of job-related forms, reports, spreadsheets, and documentation.
Education and Experience:
- Plumbing or construction experience preferred.
- Experience operating plumbing related manual and power tools.
- A valid driver’s license and approved driving record preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Due to the nature of the job this position requires prolonged periods walking, standing and sitting, with the ability to squat, kneel, stand, crawl, bend, reach, or twist for long periods of time. Carrying heavy objects up multiple stairs, climbing ladders and working in tight spaces, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, and occasionally up to 100 pounds. Physical dexterity to operate hand and power-driven tools and equipment, grip and grasp tools and equipment, such as plumbing tools, with a grip force of at least 80 pounds to tighten or loosen pipe fittings. In addition, requiring the ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including maintaining regular, punctual attendance and meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
